The nationwide workers' strike has stranded several Super Eagles players in Lagos as the Nigerian team gets ready for their important World Cup qualifiers against South Africa. The strike, initiated by labour unions on Monday, is indefinite due to the Federal Government's rejection of a proposed minimum wage increase, resulting in widespread disruptions across the country.
The strike has caused significant disruptions to travel arrangements for the match, as aviation staff and employees have also joined the protest. Despite these challenges, fifteen players were able to participate in a rigorous training session on Monday morning at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Unfortunately, eight players, including prominent figures like Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, and Alex Iwobi, have been unable to report to camp due to the Nigeria Labour Congress strike, which has caused a suspension of domestic flights according to U-17 media officer, Francis Achi.
